Dr. Lori Halvorson, founder of Duet Hearing Preservation and Lake Forest Hearing, has a mission that’s crystal clear: protect and preserve hearing for a lifetime. Along with her team, including COO Kristen Halvorson, she combines cutting-edge research with compassionate patient care to preserve the vital connection between the ear and the brain.

“New research has proven that hearing needs to be cared for before hearing cells die from noise exposure, medications, and diseases,” says Dr. Halvorson. “We can monitor the health of these cells and teach every ear, every age, everywhere how to keep these cells healthy for a lifetime.” Her groundbreaking ear-tobrain hearing fitness program emphasizes the brain’s role in processing sound. “Like keeping your muscles fit, our program keeps the brain fit, to quickly process the difference between consonant sounds,” she says. “Recent research has proven faster processing, not just louder, helps improve speech understanding in noise which will help reduce listening effort and the risk for dementia decline.”
