When KAREN WOOLLEY enrolled in her first photography class, something just clicked. Call it inspiration, call it a muse, call it imagination. But it happened every time she picked up her camera. It was 1999 in San Diego, California. Karen knew she had found her craft and her calling. Inspired by a female-owned photography business in Solana Beach, Karen saw a bright future happening behind the lens. Twenty two years later, Woolley says she never imagined her small start in LaJolla, California would evolve into a thriving business in the Hinsdale community and beyond. Karen Woolley Photography (formerly Karen Hood Photography) specializes in styles from personal to professional, from corporate headshots to weddings. Karen has never stopped pursuing her passion for capturing the right shot and capturing her subject’s unique and vivid personality. She has photographed generations of families in the Hinsdale community, turning many clients into lifelong friends. What started out as solely black and white newborn photographs, has evolved into a flourishing business documenting people and events around the country. From a wedding in Atlanta to a Celebration of Life in San Diego, Karen has created every kind of memory, caught every candid moment. Now, she is focusing her efforts in photographing families and faces in the beautiful Lake Geneva area. Every year, Karen donates her photography skills to dozens of charities, finding ways to use her camera to give back. In addition to starting, running, and growing her business, Karen is proud to have raised two sons in Hinsdale, the very community where her success really clicked.
