Chrissy and Jason Roellchen began their Skyline Window Coverings business with a mission to deliver the expertise of a large design firm, but with the tailored, custom experience of a boutique. “My career began with one of the largest independent Hunter Douglas Dealers and Design Firms in the U.S., over 20 years ago,” explains Chrissy. “I love the concept of this industry—creating a beautiful atmosphere with designer fabrics and light control. I knew I wanted to customize my own business. With tailored design experience as our goal, Lifestyle by Design™ was born.” Utilizing intuitive design and incredible style, Skyline Window Coverings delivers the perfect atmosphere for every home.
What elements define your style? Where do you find inspiration?
Elements that play into our style are chic and functional, but with a twist. The Skyline brand aesthetic has that same feeling and we love when people resonate with that. On the other hand, we love a good out-of-the-box, bold, and funky project to keep things fresh. We love traveling together and find inspiration everywhere we go. Travel leaves you feeling pampered and stress free. That is the same way we want our clients to feel when they work with us.
How do you decide which projects are a good fit for you and your firm?
We focus less on how people fit “our mold” and more on how our team can fit their needs. That’s why we love being a small business with big brand energy.
How do you include the client in your creative process?
Skyline is a client-first brand. We built the company off of listening to our clients and involving them from start to finish. Every project is different though, there are times where the client is wanting a solution like room darkening or child-safe so the fabrics and design may be less important, but that’s where our designers help to communicate the options and produce a beautiful final product and solution.
