A former high ranking public relations executive turned attorney, Kathryn Homburger Mickelson has distinguished herself in the family law arena as both business savvy and emotionally tough. Mickelson, an equity partner at Beermann LLP, has earned a reputation among judges, colleagues, and clients as a loyal and relentless advocate for individuals seeking sound and practical advice on how to navigate what can be a very complex and emotionally trying time in their lives. “I practice family law exclusively, handling all issues related to divorce, parentage, pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements, and orders of protection,” explains Mickelson, a North Shore native who attended the University of Michigan and Chicago Kent College of Law. “My clients range from executives and business owners to professional athletes and community leaders.” In her 16-year family law career, Mickelson has received numerous recognitions, including “40 Under 40 Attorneys to Watch” and Crain’s Chicago’s Most Notable Women Attorneys. She listens to her clients first, then acts. “My approach is thoughtful and strategic. My clients benefit from my level headedness and straightforward, no-nonsense advice,” adds Mickelson, who lives in Park Ridge with her husband and two children. “I am not a yes-person but act with purpose. I am trained as a mediator but love to bring cases to life in the courtroom. With this breadth of experience, I can provide the best of both worlds to my clients.”
