From scheduling screenings to waiting for results to wondering what comes next, focusing on your breast health can feel overwhelming. Dr. Karen Hou and Dr. Xuanji Wang understand how personal these moments can be, and they give patients the knowledge and reassurance they need to face each step with confidence and peace of mind.
“Patients often come in nervous,” says Dr. Hou, a breast imaging physician at RUSH MD Anderson Cancer Center at Rush Lisle, who helped design and develop the breast cancer center. “Our goal is to provide compassionate and thorough care in a space where patients can feel comfortable.”
The breast imaging team offers a full range of exam options—including 3D mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, automated breast ultrasound, contrast-enhanced mammography and breast interventions. Every patient is also offered a free high-risk assessment, which can help determine their level of risk and identify whether they may benefit from additional screening or genetic testing. Dr. Wang, a breast surgical oncologist at RUSH MD Anderson at Rush Lisle, works closely with Dr. Hou and the imaging team to coordinate care from diagnosis to treatment.
“No two cancers are alike, and no two patients are the same,” says Dr. Wang, who specializes in surgical techniques designed to keep scars as small and hidden as possible. “My role is to guide patients through all their options to help create a personalized care plan just for them.”
RUSH MD Anderson at Rush Lisle is located at 2455 Corporate W. Drive in Lisle, 312-CANCER-1, rush.edu/lisle.
