It Takes A Vision

In 1907, Dr. Arthur Rogers and his wife, Theresa, recognized the importance of mental health care when they opened Rogers Memorial Hospital in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Little did they know that 100 years later, they would be considered visionaries in the critical need and growing demand for high-quality, effective mental health treatment.
Fast forward to 2018, and what is now known as Rogers Behavioral Health is a leading, nonprofit provider of evidence-based treatment for mental health and addiction nationwide.
As part of its goal to expand its presence in the Chicago area, Rogers opened a new location in Hinsdale in November. The Hinsdale clinic offers treatment for children, teens, and adults struggling with addiction and a co-occurring mental health disorder (dual diagnosis), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
“With this latest expansion in Hinsdale we’re able to bring our specialized behavioral health services to more people in need of mental health and addiction treatment in the Chicago area,” says Pat Hammer, CEO and president of Rogers Behavioral Health. “Our continued growth speaks to the increased demand from our local communities for treatment that’s proven to work.”
Rogers Behavioral Health is nationally recognized for providing innovative programs for OCD and depression—the two most common mental health issues—offering some of the most comprehensive programs for these conditions in the country. Leaders in psychiatry and psychology across the Rogers system treat more patients daily for OCD than any other behavioral health provider, and FOCUS programs offer clinically-effective treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders.
At the Hinsdale clinic, Rogers offers specialized outpatient care for patients with access to a board-certified psychiatrist and a multidisciplinary team of mental health experts. In this type of care, individuals attend treatment sessions for several hours a day, five days a week, while maintaining connections with family, work, and school.
“Our team is backed by strong medical and clinical leadership,” says Cindy Cole, director of operations for Rogers’ Hinsdale clinic. “Throughout the country, Rogers consists of more than 75 board-certified psychiatrists and 40 psychologists, who are part of a medical staff of nearly 150 who are specialists in mental health and addiction work.”
In Hinsdale, Dr. Paula R. Young, PhD, will serve as clinical director for Rogers’ new clinic as well as its existing location in Skokie. Medical leadership will also include psychiatrists Dr. Nouzha Tazi, MD, and Dr. Andrea Uribe, DO.
In addition, Rogers has more than 20 years of commitment and investment in outcomes studies, with nearly 10,000 of its patients participating. Outcomes are available to review at rogersbh.org/clinicaloutcomes.
Based in Wisconsin, Rogers has locations in seven states, including a clinic in Skokie that opened in 2015. Throughout 2019, Rogers is set to open new locations in Miami, St. Paul, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
Dr. Arthur Rogers’ vision for leadership and dedication to mental health and innovative therapies indeed lives on today.
