“My roots are deep and extend out in these communities,” says Megan Sparrow Jordan, broker with @properties in Lake Forest. “It allows me to have a vast firsthand knowledge of all of our various local activities and opportunities offered – from Newcomers activities, preschools, sports offerings, clubs, and much more, I am able to help with the connection for an easier transition.”
Jordan’s knowledge and expertise goes back to her childhood growing up in Lake Forest. From her time at Everett Elementary School until she graduated from Lake Forest High School, she was instilled with an understanding of all the nuances that make our two communities so special. It’s an upbringing she valued so much that she moved from Chicago back to Lake Bluff when it was time to raise her own daughters.
Her entrance into real estate started as a paralegal in commercial and residential real estate with the law firm Baker & McKenzie. After a few years, she decided to build on this experience and focus her time and skills as a real estate broker.
“Real estate caught my heart,” Jordan says. “Law gave me a wonderful background of the legal side of residential real estate and shifting into sales came naturally as I love working with people. I don’t think of this as a job, I think of it as a passion. I am able to connect and have wonderful, positive relationships with my buyers and sellers, which then continue after the closing of a home.”
Not only a passion, real estate is a business that Jordan has carefully built over the last 27 years, uniting clients with their homes and introducing them to the communities, neighbors, and all that comes with the fortune of living here, which she knows so well.
Her reputation as an ambassador to Lake Forest and Lake Bluff extends beyond her local real estate career. At the heart of it is her dedication to volunteerism. Jordan has been on the Gorton Center Volunteer Board, the board of Lake County Cares, the Guild of St. Mary’s, and the charity board of @properties, “@ Gives Back,” which recently donated over $150,000 to Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith’s Keith Relief charity. Jordan was awarded the NSBAR (North Shore/Barrington Association of Realtors) Community Service Award and was honored as a Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Woman of Service and Style.
In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Jordan called into service a large network of volunteers from several community organizations including: church groups, scout troops, local sports teams, and over a thousand individuals. Working together on behalf of Lake Forest and Lake Bluff, Jordan’s work lead “Operation Outreach” in sending more than two semi-trucks of relief supplies to New Orleans.
Jordan’s proven commitment, stewardship, and reputation of giving back to others stems from the good fortune and blessings she feels she received growing up and raising her two daughters here. Perhaps that is why her career reflects so much of it and allows her to share her genuine deep connection to our community with her clients and their families. Megan Sparrow Jordan knows it is the people that make Lake Forest and Lake Bluff special, and welcoming newcomers into the community is just the beginning of what she hopes turns into an amazing gift to live here, as has been the case for her for all these years.
Megan Sparrow Jordan is with @properties at 600 N. Western Avenue in Lake Forest, 847-533-2852, [email protected].
