Chris Girard found Pilates 20 years ago by chance.
Falling in love with how strong and lengthened her muscles felt, Girard became a Romana’s Pilates certified instructor in 2007 and then opened Pilates Studio 6 in South Barrington to share her knowledge with clients.
“Our job is to focus on alignment and symmetry,” says Girard, “which is the only way to achieve stretch, strength, and control.” Pilates Studio 6 also offers something that most studios can’t—by limiting classes to one to two people, they can address specific issues for each client.
This approach was a game-changer for Kathie DeMunno. Coming off a bad accident that resulted in back surgery in 2006, DeMunno was looking to strengthen her back and core.
“I had taken group class, and being an occupational therapist, I knew I wasn’t getting what I needed,” DeMunno says. “I wasn’t even sure I was doing the exercises correctly.”
Each class at Pilates Studio 6 was tailored to address her personal needs.
DeMunno, has since recovered from her injury, and continues to take classes at Pilates Studio 6 weekly as she’s discovered Pilates has helped every part of her body. “I went in for my back, but Pilates has kept my entire body limber and strong,” she shares.
For those looking to further strengthen their muscles and tone their body or jump into a new workout in the New Year, call Pilates Studio 6, show up, and results will follow.
