Gina Pongetti Angeletti is a national and world-renowned physical therapist with more than 20 years of experience in gymnastics and performing arts medicine. Since 2003, she has been providing treatment, biomechanics analysis, rehabilitation, and return-to-sport therapies for Olympic, World, NCAA, and national champion athletes. Notably, she has worked with high-ranking athletes at both the 2016 Rio Olympics and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, establishing herself as a leader in the field. The ability to put herself in her patient’s shoes is one of her distinct advantages; Prior to her career in physical therapy, she spent 14 years as a gymnast and accomplished triathlete. Angeletti even raced in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in 2006, and today, continues her involvement in Ironman events nationwide, treating athletes on-site as the provider of choice for several top triathletes. Her work at all levels focuses on both treatment and education of manual therapy and hands-on techniques combined with in-depth analysis of biomechanics and movement patterns to facilitate patient recovery. “Empathy for their pain and the process is key to the patient/practitioner relationship,” she shares. “Behind every patient is a heart full of goals and a mind struggling through the rehab process and disappointments with their injury.” Her performing arts medicine specialization also includes treatment for touring Broadway musicals and local productions, focusing on tour health longevity, treatment, and injury prevention programs. “I have realized the culmination of my success in treatment is truly a result of protecting the rights and best interest of the athlete as a whole— mind, body, soul—as well as guarding the sanctity of sport through SafeSport and athletic regulations,” she says. “Empowering athletes to respect their bodies and injuries, to rehab properly and to prioritize time for preventive care, has been my greatest career accomplishment.”
