Amy Gordy Wears Proenza Schouler From Neiman Marcus Northbrook
While native Texan Amy Gordy says she’ll always have that signature “southern spirit,” Lake Forest is her forever home. “I’m a mom to two amazing boys who inspire me every day to lead by example and live a healthy, active lifestyle,” says Gordy, explaining how she met husband, Hunter, in Orlando. “After having kids, my passion for fitness and nutrition really took off, and I knew I wanted to help others feel their best too.”
Soon after moving to Lake Forest for Hunter’s job, she discovered the Quest Performance Training community. “I was welcomed with open arms and that’s where I met Marquone Edmonds—first a friend, then a mentor,” she says. “You’ll even catch him popping up in my TikToks from time to time.” Gordy credits Coach Q, as Edmonds is known, for helping her launch her AG Well fitness coaching business, which empowers others to build sustainable, healthy habits. “Without him, I’m not sure AG Well would even exist!”
A diehard racquet sports enthusiast, Gordy also serves on the board at the Lake Forest Club. “It’s become a huge part of my life,” she says. “It’s where I play all the racquet sports—even in winter—and connect with so many wonderful people in the community.” With summer in full swing, you can find Gordy in the gym, on the courts, or chasing her boys around. “And when I’m not moving, I’m probably posting or scrolling on TikTok—because wellness should be fun, and I always love a good laugh.” Gordy recently took time from her busy schedule to share a few of her best fitness hacks and other faves.
If you could only play one racquet sport, what would it be? This is a very hard question because I love them all, but if I had to choose I would say tennis. It’s the most challenging racquet sport and the best workout both physically and mentally. Favorite way to stay in shape? I’m a very big fan of strength training because as we age we lose muscle mass. Everyone should be lifting weights! Guilty pleasure? Themed cruises! I know that sounds insane, and it is, but the Hallmark Christmas cruise last year changed my life and now I’m hooked! You can catch me in November setting sail again. Favorite local restaurant to dine al fresco? The outdoor patio at the Lake Forest Club is the best! I also really enjoy the outdoor patio at the Deerpath Inn. Sportswear brand you can’t live without? Considering I live the majority of my life in sportswear, hands down my favorite is Lululemon. Movie you’re most looking forward to this summer? Probably Happy Gilmore 2 because I love an Adam Sandler movie. Favorite way to celebrate 4th of July? I love attending the Lake Bluff parade and I also enjoy the poolside activities and fireworks at the Lake Forest Club!
Favorite workout music? Rap is my music of choice for strength training, but when I’m playing tennis or paddle I prefer pop music. Your next vacation will be to where? This summer we are going to London and Scotland! Your ultimate beach picnic includes? There’s nothing better than a sandwich and chips at the beach if it’s during the day. If it’s evening, then I’d prefer a charcuterie spread with a crisp white wine. TV show or podcast you can’t stop binging? I am currently binging One Tree Hill after reading Dinner for Vampires. I’m hooked! Favorite court to play racquet sports on? My favorite is a clay court because it’s the easiest on the body. Dream vacation? My dream vacation would be to sail around the world (obviously on a cruise ship) and visit as many destinations as possible. Maybe one day when I’m retired I will be able to live out this dream. Social media influencer who inspires you? It’s a toss-up between Alix Earle and Bethenny Frankel. They’re both very true to themselves and unapologetic. I respect that! Next item to check off your bucket list? I have my sights set on heading to Iceland next August for the total solar eclipse. I’ve now seen two and it’s been an amazing experience both times. If you haven’t seen one yet, you’ve got to do it if you can!
