Christina Currie knows how to throw a party, so much so that she turned her skills into a thriving business. But Christina Currie Events in Barrington does more than plan weddings and special occasions. They have become the go-to experts in the area for throwing events of all descriptions.
With the holidays upon us, we asked Currie and her crew to share their top five tips for planning a party at home that will have people talking into the new year.
HERE’S WHAT SHE HAD TO SAY
Tip 1
Start with spreading the holiday cheer by sending personalized invitations three to four weeks in advance of your event. It’s a classic and classy move that instantly elevates any party.
Tip 2
Make your spirits brighter with a dazzling signature drink. It’s such a welcoming treat and really brings everyone together as they sip the same cocktail.
Tip 3
Turn off your bright overhead lights and use amber votive holders, which give off a warm glow. Decorate with metallic accents—they’re instantly festive and bounce light around.
Tip 4
To infuse your party with holiday cheer, add live jazz artists. A simple trio of musicians playing everyone’s favorite holiday songs will add a festive vibe the entire evening.
Tip 5
Keep it simple with white dishware, classic tumblers, and wine glasses, but show off your personality with a bold cocktail napkin.
