Eric L. Schulman has been practicing complex family law for more than 20 years. A Senior Partner at Schiller DuCanto & Fleck LLP, he prides himself on his balanced, yet aggressive advocacy. “Transparency is something I establish with my clients early on in a case. I tell them what they need to hear, not necessarily what they want to hear,” says Schulman, adding that he also believes in close, frequent communication, working together with his clients as a team toward the best possible outcome. Treating each case as if it were that of his own family or a friend, Schulman has no reservations about trying cases if that is the most suitable option—understanding that settlement out of court is usually in the client’s best interest, both financially and emotionally. He says two things inspired him to become an attorney. “My uncle implored upon me the nobility of practicing law, as he was a well-regarded litigator,” Schulman explains. “Another driving force was my desire to help people when they are at their lowest points, such as going through a divorce.” Schulman specializes in all aspects of family law litigation, from custody, asset valuation, and property division to income examination, pre-nuptial agreements, and maintenance determination. Clients value his ability to accurately assess cases and make well-reasoned judgments about how to reach a favorable outcome.
