From passion project to thriving enterprise, COLLEEN BENTLEY launched The Park Planners in 2018 with a dream to share the Disney magic. What began as a side hustle transformed into a full-time venture by 2020, evolving into a comprehensive travel agency and concierge service. With a dynamic team of nearly 30 and a vibrant storefront in Clarendon Hills, Bentley continues to craft unforgettable Disney experiences while balancing her roles as a devoted wife and mother.

Most rewarding part of what you do? We get to bring the joy and magic of Disney to families to create memories that will truly last a lifetime. I treasure my memories of Disney trips with my family growing up, and now being able to take my own daughter to experience the magic is the absolute best. There’s nothing like seeing Disney through your child’s eyes!

Greatest risk you’ve taken as a professional? Starting and owning a business is risky, and that risk never truly disappears. Leaving my full-time job in January 2020 felt like a big risk at the time, but with Disney parks closing soon after, the stakes became even higher. However, by that fall, the parks opened up, the business took off, and it hasn’t slowed down in four years! But now, I feel like the stakes are even greater as I support not only my own family but also the families of my 30 employees. So, it always feels like a risk.

Best piece of advice for anyone starting out? Be patient and persistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight—it requires years of hard work and perseverance. I began my business from a tiny Chicago apartment, working late nights and weekends for years. It’s still a lot of work but watching the business grow has been both exciting and rewarding.
