A proud native of Chicago’s Western Suburbs, DR. NICK RICCIO (DMD, PC) returned home in 2018 to purchase Hinsdale Orthodontics & Pediatric Dentistry. He and his wife, Dr. Susan Blair—a dual-board-certified pediatric dentist/orthodontist—met while finishing college in New York and now run two thriving practices while raising their sons, Massimo and Santino. Dr. Riccio affectionately refers to Dr. Blair as “his better half” and “da real MVP” of their family. Together, they’ve created a purpose-driven practice rooted in community, collaboration, and growth—both personally and professionally.
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
Being in private practice allows me to build something meaningful. I started a Masterminds study club to support and learn from other dental professionals with the mantra: network, learn, grow. I also love coaching patients through their smile journey—watching their confidence transform is incredible.
WHAT VALUES OR PRINCIPLES GUIDE YOUR SUCCESS?
I live by G-R-O-W-T-H: Grit, Responsibility, Work ethic, Trust, and Humor. I’m not afraid to fail, but I’d rather learn from others’ mistakes. There’s no losing in life—just winning or learning.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS WITH PERSONAL FULFILLMENT?
I make them synergistic. Everything I pursue personally helps me grow professionally, and vice versa. With an abundance mindset, I believe there’s limitless potential for development.
WHAT’S A PIECE OF WISDOM YOU LIVE BY?
“Happiness is wanting what you have.” Real happiness isn’t about acquiring more—it’s about truly appreciating what’s already in front of you.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF LEADERS?
Be polite, on time, and work your butt off when you’re starting out—so that later, you can be a little blunt, a couple minutes late, and take more vacations!
