Board-certified plastic surgeon DR. MICHAEL SALVINO (M.D., FACS) founded his Salvino Plastic Surgery practice in Hinsdale more than 15 years ago. Born and raised in Chicago, he completed his general surgery residency at Northwestern University and a plastic surgery fellowship at Loyola University. With extensive experience performing both cosmetic and reconstructive treatments, Dr. Salvino offers aesthetically pleasing results to his patients—whether they undergo surgery or a non-invasive treatment. A member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and The Aesthetic Society, he prides himself on professional relationships with patients that help them achieve their individualized goals.

Combining artistic vision with surgical innovation to help patients realize their specific aesthetic goals. Every patient is different, each with unique anatomy and personal objectives. Similarly, plastic surgery is unique amongst other surgical specialties in that it relies more on principles of aesthetic surgery and less on surgical dogma. Each surgical case is individualized to fit the needs of that patient, which keeps each day invigorating.

WHAT VALUES OR PRINCIPLES GUIDE YOUR SUCCESS?
I live by the Golden Rule. I strive to treat every patient the way I would like to be treated. As a surgeon, the obvious function is to perform operations. Surgery is a very technical field but we should not simply be technicians. Another part of my job is to connect with my patients on a human level and make them comfortable in their surgical journey. It is a simple but common sense rule for life.

WHAT’S A PIECE OF WISDOM YOU LIVE BY?
Do what you love and keep balance in your life. The old adage of finding something you love to do and you’ll never work a day in your life is true. I’ve been blessed as a plastic surgeon and truly love what I do. It is also important to find a balance as well because it is easy to be consumed by our passions. Harmony in your routine helps revitalize the various aspects of daily life. Striking a balance between work, play, and family also keeps life healthy, stimulating, and purposeful.
