KATHLEEN MURPHY SIEVERTSEN has a long history of giving back to her community and industry. From her work as Co-President of the Oak Brook Chapter of the Auxiliary of IWS Family Health to the numerous other local community and civic organizations she supports, Sievertsen has devoted her life to making a difference in the lives of others. An accomplished health care professional with both an MBA and graduate certificate in Managed Care, her career includes multiple distinguished leadership positions on both the hospital and physician side of the industry, including roles at AMITA Health, Adventist Health Systems, DuPage Medical Group (now called Duly Health), multi-specialty clinics, and multiple imaging sites.
What excites you most about the future of your industry? Health care is advancing at a phenomenal pace. I am most excited about the progress in cancer research, genetics, robotic surgery, immunotherapy, and the move toward improved patient efficiencies and patient experience.
What conversations are you passionate about bringing to the table? I am passionate about Epic’s MyChart as a key, easily accessible health care tool. I believe it is critically important for patients to be involved with their own health care.
How do you give back to your community or industry? I am currently Co-President of Oak Brook Infant Welfare, which is an organization committed to supporting the IWS Family Health Center, which provides health care to underserved families. I am also Treasurer of the Salt Creek Ballet, and a board member of the Fullersburg Historic Foundation. Before I retired, I was a Regional Director of Retail Ops/Community Benefits for AMITA Healthcare and played a role in determining pathways to benefit the local communities that we served.
How do you define confidence—and how have you built it? Confidence comes from knowing who you are and working to the best of your ability to build and use your talents and strengths. And, of course, putting in the hard work is essential. When you have assembled and applied all of these elements, you will have greater confidence in yourself—and a job well done.
What legacy do you hope to leave behind? For me, the best legacy is to be remembered as someone who was a good person, who cared about other people, and who was passionate about living life. I strive to leave every place that I have been better than it was before.
