Laura Chappetto of Element Design Network works closely with her clients to uncover and define their unique home design styles. An avid believer that every home should reflect the in- dividuality and lifestyle of its owner, she ensures her work doesn’t impose her own aesthetic but instead reflects the soul and personality of the people living in the space.
“A home is a representation of those who live in it and my mission is to make my clients have a sense of pride and owner- ship in the design of their homes,” she says. “I am just here to help facilitate the process of creating a space that makes clients take a deep breath and say, ‘I’m home.’”
Understanding that design can be challenging and daunting for some, Chappetto makes the entire process as effortless as pos- sible. Her services include new design and remodeling, full-service solutions where construction is not required, and design collabora- tion. “Every client is different, and every project is different, so I customize my services to find where I am needed and let my clients explore their creative side,” she says. “Together we create the perfect space and always have fun during the process.”
Taking the time to understand how her clients live, what they wear, what they love, and what works and doesn’t work in their spaces, she thoughtfully creates warm, inviting interiors blending timeless design elements with modern touches. One consistent element in her work is the feeling she aims to create. “My projects all have a feeling of effortless luxury,” she says. “I love a home that feels lived in and there’s no better compliment than people feeling at home in their own space.”
Function and balance are important in her design process. “Function needs to take precedence over everything else,” she says, “and a well-balanced room is a well-designed space.” As for design trends, she advises her clients to make sure the trend aligns with their personal style. “That’s when a trend can really stand the test of time,” she says.
She also encourages incorporating art into the home, whether it’s a cherished piece from a favorite trip, a meaningful memento from a significant life moment, or an exciting new purchase. “Art- work always plays an important role in personalizing a home,” she says. “I find that people tend to be afraid to start buying art, but it’s really the one thing that you should be able to look at and smile and if you find a piece that does that, you’ll love it forever.” She loves seeing more clients embrace adding their personality to their homes, with art playing a key role in the process.
For Chappetto, designing a home is more than just looks—it’s about creating a space that holds her clients’ memories. “It is such a privilege for me to create a space that becomes the backdrop of my clients’ memories, and I want my clients to feel like their home was perfectly designed for their family,” she says.
