LAURA CHAPPETTO, a maven of home design at Element Design Network, believes a home is a reflection of its inhabitants. Instilling pride and ownership in her clients, she transforms their spaces to reflect their unique personalities instead of her own personal aesthetic. She guides clients effortlessly to explore their creative side while curating spaces that make them feel truly at home. Most rewarding part of what you do? I have the great fortune of creating spaces that become the backdrop to my client’s lifelong memories. The most rewarding moment during a project is seeing my clients’ faces when the design is complete and knowing their dream has been realized. So many important moments take place in the home and I feel honored to be a small part of that.

What did you dream of doing when you were younger? My passion for design began early in life. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of my bedroom makeovers in which I would enlist the help of my grandfather to bring me to a series of stores to gather my supplies— a new color of paint, new bedding, and fresh accessories. I would lock myself in my bedroom not allowing any visitors until the transformation was complete. Although I’m sure my parents recognized the missing items throughout the house, they always acted surprised and pleased when I invited my family into my room for the unveiling. I would set the lighting just right, put music on my boombox (yes, you read that correctly … boombox!), and create an experience. I absolutely loved it.
