How do you define “exceptional” in today’s luxury market?
To some people, exceptional may be a custom new build, to others, a state-of-the-art restored home. Location, such as lakefront may define luxury for some buyers. We have had clients who have said to us “we’re not really looking to move, but if you see something really special, let us know.” It is wonderful to list that ‘special home’ and to find it for buyers as well—luxury is a lifestyle.
What trends are shaping the high-end real estate landscape right now?
There is an expectation in high-end homes, that luxury can be felt in every room. We are seeing sellers make more improvements before they sell to ensure that their home is truly move-in ready for the buyer.
What advice would you give to agents aspiring to work in the luxury space?
Treat all your clients as luxury clients. Look and act like a luxury agent. Be on time for all appointments. Luxury clients may be data driven, so know all the data points of the luxury market. Respect your client’s privacy and of course keep everything confidential. Consistent communication is key. Show up and be the expert they hired. Have confidence in your knowledge of the market and most importantly of their home.
