Dan Frasca is the Owner of The Walker Group, a design-build firm specializing in custom homes and renovations in the greater Chicago area and Naples, Florida. After graduating from Purdue University, he began his career with national construction and development firms. He was recognized by Chicago Real Estate Magazine as a “40 Under 40” leader for his national build-to-suit developments.

In 1997, he founded The Walker Group and shifted his focus toward residential construction and client-centered design. Since then, the firm has built a reputation for delivering high-quality custom homes and renovations through a fully integrated design-build approach. With a referral-based client base, the company is known for guiding projects from concept through completion with consistency, flexibility, and hands-on leadership.

What’s the best part of what you do—and what surprises people about it?
We don’t approach any issues as ‘problems.’ Many times, clients just get stuck on something. We listen first, then speak and solve second.

What moment or challenge shaped you more than any title or achievement?
While working at Turner Construction, I led the renovation of the Habit Africa Exhibit. We had to relocate giraffes about 50 yards to their temporary home before demolition. Each day they would wander a little farther and turn back—this was the only time in my career I had absolutely no control over schedule.

What’s a piece of advice you actually follow—not just give?
Listen first and speak less. Treat others as you expect to be treated, keep customers informed at all times, and never spend someone else’s money.
