MICHELLE FISHER was a competitive figure skater as a young girl. After years of training and double axels, she landed in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where she trained with United States Figure Skating Hall of Fame coaches, Evy and Mary Scotvold. She traded in her blades for books and attended Loyola University Chicago for both undergraduate and law school. She worked as a litigator at major Chicago law firm until moving to Hinsdale in 2011. Michelle’s husband grew up in town and had always hoped to move back home to raise his family. Michelle was sold after hearing his stories of a childhood spent biking with friends and playing ice hockey at Burns Field.
Once in Hinsdale, Michelle’s full focus and attention turned to taking care of her growing family, Jack (14), Chloe (11), and Colin (6). Her two older children are all in with soccer and her youngest is a Lego fanatic. Michelle became a member of The Garden Club of Hinsdale this past year and remains optimistic about greening her thumb. She is a dedicated school volunteer who takes tons of photos for the school yearbook, and coordinates used book drives for Open Books, her favorite charity.
In 2019, Michelle was appointed by President Tom Cauley to serve on the Plan Commission for the Village of Hinsdale. In March 2021, she was elected to serve on the Village of Hinsdale Board of Trustees. Michelle’s service continues a legacy of her grandfather, who served as director of public works, and her father, who served as an auxiliary police officer in her hometown. Both men instilled in her the importance of taking care of and supporting her community. This local leader is inspired by the beautiful downtown, strong sense of community, and great schools and considers it a privilege to uphold our traditions and qualities while making sure Hinsdale remains a place people want to return to when they grow up.
