Country Vs. Town: May 2022

By Michelle Crowe

Country Vs. Town: May 2022

MOLLY HAWORTH

MOLLY HAWORTH grew up in Indiana, where her dad owned his own business, and her mother created a home where artistic and crafty pursuits were encouraged. Following the lead of her mother and grandmother, Molly became very interested in the arts in her school days. “During the day I took as many art electives as I could. After school if I wasn’t taking an art or a dance class, I was teaching one,” she says. Art School led to a career as a visual manager for Marshall Field and Co. and Saks Fifth Avenue. With two boys and nearly 20 years in Chicago, Molly and her husband decided it was time to move to the suburbs. “I loved the feeling of Hinsdale,” she says. The Haworth family has been here for eight years now, with an impromptu expat adventure to London when the boys, Everett (13) and Landen (12) were in fourth and second grades. Molly has been a member of Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club, overseeing the look and décor of the benefit. She is involved with the Hinsdale Historical Society and The D181 Foundation. Molly’s love of art has led to a vibrant business, Little Blueprints Art Studio. She teaches all mediums; watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, embroidery, clay, collage and sewing. “My favorite has always been colored pencil,” Molly says. Here are some of her favorites in the country and on the town.

Mantra? Stay creative. Best grooming tip? Coconut oil hair mask once a week. Guilty pleasure? My two Burmese cats, Valentino and Francesco. I call them my art mascots. Early memory? Making things with mom and grandma, like sewing clothes for my dolls. Music you love? Nathanial Rateliff is the perfect background music for playing sous chef while my husband cooks. Advice you would give to your younger self? Pay attention to the things you love to do, they are leading you somewhere amazing.

WHEN IN THE COUNTRY

Your style is? Laid back, mostly jeans and t-shirt with chunky boots. Can’t leave the house without? Lipstick. Place to eat? Fuller House Shop? Boutiques around town. The visual artist in me loves seeing the displays. Best thing about the country? The support of friends and parents in this community is amazing and I’m so grateful. Worst thing about the country? My husband doesn’t love commuting. The perfect day is? Planning out a new art project for my classes, reorganizing something around the house, teasing my teens while watching a movie with the cats on our laps and a glass of wine in hand.

WHEN IN TOWN

Your style is? I might add a blazer and fabulous sunglasses to my jeans, t-shirt, and boots. Can’t leave the house without? Sunscreen and lipstick. Place to eat? My husband and I like to check out new breweries when we have the chance. Shop? I might swing by my old stomping grounds of Saks and the other Michigan Avenue stores. Best thing about town? There’s so much creative energy. Worst thing about town? Traffic. The perfect day is? Vintage shopping, a chat with my mom and checking out an art exhibit at one of the museums.
