LISA DECOURCY is a native of the Western Suburbs and graduated from Hinsdale Central High School. Growing up she absolutely loved and cherished how her family did everything together, whether it be dinners together, going to the temple, vacations around the world, or even simple movie nights.
While at Western Michigan University, she met her husband, Jason. The couple made Chicago their home after marriage, spending nearly a decade in the South Loop. When their second daughter was on her way, Lisa and Jason decided it was time to reclaim their suburbanite heritage. The family landed in Clarendon Hills, where Jason’s family lived when he was born, before moving to Michigan.
They revel in introducing their three children, Aria (11), Mila (8) and Leo (3), as well as a 3-year-old doodle named Arthur, to the traditions, holidays, and amazing food of their two cultures.
This dynamic mama is busy. She has held various roles at a Fortune 500 company, focusing on sales, business development, and strategic initiatives that contribute to the company’s success and play a pivotal role in driving its growth. She’s also an entrepreneur with a mobile threading business called “My Browtique by Lisa.” The business caters to those on the constant go and want the convenience of someone coming to them. She says, “My Browtique is an amazing outlet that allows me to work with our amazing local community. The business has grown tremendously and fills a niche that was needed in our community.”
Lisa finds time to volunteer, saying, “From working in soup kitchens to being a volunteer at Hinsdale Hospital in high school and now being involved in my local philanthropy chapters, giving back to the community has been a passion of mine since childhood.”
She joined Clarendon Hills Infant Welfare in 2019 and has managed various roles from social chair, silent auction, and online luminaria sales. She appreciates this amazing tight knit group of ladies that roll up their sleeves to come together to raise money for a great cause. She also enjoys volunteering for Prospect Elementary School and co-chaired last year’s benefit for the school. She has also been a member of Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club (HJWC).
Advice to younger self: ALWAYS be YOU and don’t change for anyone. Live life to the fullest and don’t look back. On my reading stack: Currently, I am loving Daisy Jones & The Six and I just finished the Colleen Hoover Series (It Starts with Us and It Ends with Us). I follow @bookandachai on Instagram for all my new book reads. Favorite Music: I am a huge pop fan: Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, and of course Taylor Swift as my girls listen and dance to her music all day. And when life gets too hectic, we like to try and unwind to some Frank Sinatra classics. Guilty Pleasure: Oberweis Honey Cashew Ice Cream – LOVE it! Favorite Workout: Peloton and walking outside. In the Spring/ Summer months taking walks with my girls are the best! We like to talk about all sorts of different topics and enjoy having a good laugh, it tends to make walking miles so much easier. Best Grooming Tip: I always ensure my eyebrows are tightly threaded and shaped. I am currently addicted to the Elta D Skincare Facial Sunscreen cream from Sheth Dermatology. Fall or Halloween Tradition: The Fall is for pumpkin patches The Witches Ride and Fall Fest in Clarendon Hills have both become fun annual events, and our family tradition is carving pumpkins the night before Halloween while watching a scary movie. Fall also brings one of the biggest holidays in our Indian culture, Diwali, “The Festival of Lights.” This five-day celebration symbolizes victory of light over darkness, good over evil, great food and bringing families together.
Your Style: Workout clothes from Game Set and Style, jeans, puff sleeve sweatshirt, and tennis shoes in between pickup and being my kids Uber driver. I follow some fun bloggers for Amazon and Target finds. Favorite Walk: Saturday morning walking from Clarendon Hills to Page’s for breakfast with a few parks stops on the way. Can’t leave the house without: A fanny pack as I love to be hands free. I’m not a handbag girl due to shuffling three kids around. Best places to celebrate: Il Mio has a great vibe in Clarendon Hills, with gluten free and vegetarian options, and they have a great team. Hidden Gem: The Hinsdale Fruit Store is my absolute go to lunch for the best salad bar. Shree Restaurant has the best vegetarian Indian food. Best thing about the town: I love seeing the town growing with more businesses, restaurants, and shops that tailor to everyone. The perfect day is: Heading to the park in the morning, followed by a coffee at Tierra Distillery and lunch at Village Gourmet. As for the evening, walking into downtown Clarendon Hills with our kids to grab a bite to eat and a night cap for the kids at Daily Scoop (and a drink for mom and dad at Open Door). Favorite Festival/ special event: The Clarendon Hills Infant Welfare Benefit is always amazing and so is Daisy Days – I love having a fun carnival weekend right at our doorstep. Shop: I’m a big advocate of supporting local and usually purchase gifts, accessories, and the occasional trendy outfit for the weekend at Vintage Charm. English Garden always gets me with their fresh flowers and plants. Best thing in the country: All of the amazing friends we have met since moving here… everywhere feels like extended family.
Your style is: Kut brand jeans with a sweater and flats. I am starting to wear more vibrant bright colors and patterns. Favorite Walk? Viewing the skyline while walking along the lake by Museum Campus never gets old This was our nightly walk when living in the city. Can’t leave my house? Phone, Stanley Water Cup, and a cute versatile fanny pack to be hands free. I like to think I’m basically redefining the suburban mom. Places to Celebrate: Fig and Olive and Gibson’s Italia. Great Food is important, but an amazing ambiance is what I tend to remember. Shops: I love walking the streets of Lincoln Park and strolling through all the cute boutiques. Best Quick Bite or hidden gem: Summer House Santa Monica is a household favorite, we also love Flo & Santos Favorite Festival: The Old Town Art Festival.
