DENISE MARRON grew up in the heart of Bucktown, back when it was still full of untamed charm and neighborhood magic. She was the kid who brought home every stray, from dogs and cats to bunnies, birds, chameleon, iguana even the occasional gardener snake or crickets. Her childhood was full of love, family and adventure: ice skating, floor hockey, climbing trees, dancing, blasting music, and biking with friends until the streetlights came on. “Our home was the gathering place, open doors, open heart. I’ve always gravitated toward creativity and movement, and that’s followed me throughout my life,” she says.
After college, she immersed herself in both work and wanderlust. “Travel has played a huge role in shaping my perspective. I’ve explored much of the U.S., and internationally, I’ve visited France, Belgium, Amsterdam, Iceland, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Mexico and Poland. One of her more unexpected adventures? Logging hours toward a private pilot’s license. “I never finished, but flying remains one of the most exhilarating things I’ve done,” Denise says.
Denise is always up for a challenge, saying “I know how to drive stick shift, earned my motorcycle license at top of my class too. Get to know me and I may have some other surprises in the works. Life’s always been about staying curious, saying yes to experiences and what life has to offer.” She lives in Clarendon Hills with her family, including two incredible children, and is a full-time real estate broker who genuinely loves helping people find or sell a home. She’s a big foodie who loves trying out a new restaurant or dish, Denise even has a small food blog, which she adds to occasionally, and is known to helping people find and enhance their beauty with hair and makeup services occasionally.
Philanthropy is a huge part of her life. She’s been actively involved with the Hinsdale Historical Society, Infant Welfare Society, Wellness House, PTO, and has spent the last decade with the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club (HJWC). “I’ve had the opportunity to chair several HJWC committees, including Networking, Education, Social, Outreach and Juniorettes. This group of high school age women led a food drive that raised nearly 5,000 pounds of donations while winning the Battle of the Boards. This year, I’m proud to chair the Outreach Committee, where we’ll be collecting holiday gifts for families in need.”
Do you have a mantra? Live, Love, & Laugh. Life’s too short not to find joy in the little moments. Always find the good in others and give back. And be kind. On your reading stack? Usually whatever my book club is reading—but I’m drawn to anything motivational, uplifting, or full of insight. I love learning new things and challenging my perspective. What organizations do you support? Hinsdale Historical Society, Infant Welfare Society, local PTOs, Wellness House and of course, the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club, among others. If it involves giving back, chances are I’m already involved—or on my way there. Any daily rituals that keep you grounded? A good walk in nature does wonders for my mind and spirit. I love admiring the architecture and landscaping around town, there’s beauty everywhere if you look for it. Music you love? I’m a true music lover, everything from country, alternative rock to dance, classical, and anything with a powerful piano, cello, or violin. I have a true passion for music as it motivates me, moves me, and it’s always playing in the background of my life. I just love a good song that you can really feel within.
Favorite fall/winter tradition or activity? I’m a big Halloween fan—I throw a spooky dinner and cocktail party every year. I also love fall festivals, outdoor concerts, and city adventures like the Bucktown Arts Fest or Oktoberfest to name a few. During the holidays, my cookie exchange has become a beloved tradition. Ice-skating, occasional skiing and travel. And of course, nothing beats quality time with family around Thanksgiving and throughout the season. What beauty products are you loving right now? A good lip gloss is always in my bag, and I’ve recently been loving products that combine skincare and makeup. Where is your favorite place to travel? Iceland completely stole my heart—the landscapes are surreal, and I toured nearly the entire island. Paris is timeless for its food, history, and style, and London holds a special place for its royal history and vibrant culture. Those are my top three for sure.
You’ll find me walking around town, catching up with friendly faces, meeting clients at my office, or grabbing a bite or a cocktail with friends. It’s the kind of town where you can’t go anywhere without bumping into someone that I know, and I love that about it. What’s your go-to outfit? A great blazer over a dress or paired with pants or shorts—it’s all about mixing polish with personality. Is there anything you can’t leave the house without? My phone (it’s my mobile office!) and lip gloss. Where do they know you by name? Almost everywhere in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills—from restaurants to boutiques. I love supporting local businesses, and it’s always nice to be recognized. Any local traditions you’ve participated in that you’d love more people to know about? One of my favorite events is “Gift of the Season,” organized by the Hinsdale Junior Woman’s Club Outreach Committee, which I am happily chairing this year. We collect and deliver holiday gifts to families in need, and the gratitude we receive reminds me every year of what really matters. If an ad agency asked you to write a commercial for your town, what would you say? Welcome to Hinsdale—where charm meets community, and every corner feels like home. Whether you’re raising a family, building a business, or just passing through, you’ll find heart, history, and hospitality waiting for you here.
Do you wear any outfits or accessories that feel like too much for the school run but perfect for the city? Absolutely. A graphic tee, cool sneakers or Converse, a trucker hat or even a jersey if I’m heading to a game. It’s all about the vibe. What’s in your bag? Phone, keys, lip gloss—my daily essentials. And maybe a healthy snack or two! View that never gets old? The Chicago skyline from the lakefront, especially at dusk. Sitting on the rocks, watching the water shimmer with the city behind it, it’s magic and so breathtaking every time. Best quick bite or hidden gem? Big Star Tacos. Their fish tacos, queso fundido, and classic margarita is a hit every time, while listening to the vinyl playing in the background is such a vibe. I also love Margie’s Candies for an old-school thick chocolate shake, and Ipsento’s coconut milk, cayenne, and honey latte is a must. Best beauty or wellness spot? The Peninsula Spa is a total treat—elegant, peaceful, and indulgent. Favorite museum? The Art Institute of Chicago. It’s a timeless favorite, whether I’m wandering alone or with friends, it always feeds the soul. Favorite movie filmed in or set in Chicago? Too many to choose just one! The Untouchables, The Dark Knight, and The Blues Brothers all top my list. Iconic and unforgettable.
