Wilmette resident and Compass real estate agent Coco Harris credits her success to skills she developed early in her career while working in sales for the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. Between being raised in a real estate family and working with her husband in his luxury furniture showroom, the transition to helping buyers and sellers was seamless. She prides herself on approaching each situation with honesty, integrity, and a sense of humor while also engaging a creative eye that helps buyers visualize how they can turn a house into their home and also help a seller better position their home for sale.

What made you want to start a career in real estate?
My mom had a 40-plus year successful career in residential real estate in Connecticut. Going from the corporate sector to a commission-only job felt both terrifying and financially risky, but my mom gave me the best advice as I weighed the decision and she encouraged me to take a leap of faith and to bet on myself.

In real estate, what will never be replaced by technology?
Human intelligence and the detailed care that we bring to the process. Technology will only take you so far. A trusted real estate professional helps protect you from mistakes with huge financial implications.

What’s one misconception about real estate you had when you first started that you’d want a new agent to understand?
Your client, not the sale of the home, is always at the center of the transaction. If you consistently act in the best interest of your client and unfailingly keep that as the priority, success will follow.

Coco Harris is with Compass, 568 Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka. For more information, call 847-372-3324, email [email protected], or visit compass.com/agents/coco-harris.
