Winnetka’s Laura White looks for ways to connect with nature and be eco-responsible with her company, Arch. Her belief in the healing power of plants was the basis for launching her botanical skincare line, Arch Glow. Over the past five years, her company has expanded its clean/green products and included her passion for vintage, which derives from a desire to avoid waste by repurposing and respecting heirlooms. Here is how this eco-minded Winnetkan stays on trend.
IN HER EARBUDS
“I’ve always loved 1960s French Pop. Recently I’ve discovered bands that take that vintage vibe and put a really cool modern electronic and psychedelic spin to it. I never get tired of listening to The Limiñanas or Juniore, they have an incredible range and energy. You can check out our Spotify playlists ARCH KICKS for vintage French pop or ARCHIE for a more folk vibe.”
ON HER NIGHTSTAND
“The world of plants is boundless and the more I read, the more I need to know. I am fascinated by plant remedies and the human relationship with plants. Braiding Sweetgrass is a wonderful book that integrates indigenous wisdom and illuminates the endless ways that plants heal. It encourages us to pay attention and listen to the quiet hum of the earth. Plants teach us how to make food and medicine from light and water and then give it back to the earth.”
ON HER MOBILE
“Instagram is a huge source of inspiration for me. I cull ideas from a variety of creative people—anything vintage, environmental, or holistic feeds my own creativity. I follow @chicksforclimate, the @ecoguys, @wilderbotanics for plant medicine, and when I want to be entertained, I love the podcast, Smartless.”
