Designer LJ Savarie and her Savarie Interiors team refreshed this gracious Hinsdale home room by room, honoring the choices made by the homeowner and her beloved mother 20 years ago. With fresh fabrics from the finest textile houses, outstanding artwork, and an emphasis on textures, each room is a welcoming jewel box.
THE HAPPIEST PRIMARY
“This is a happy room with impact and a bit of punch,” LJ says. Lighting takes the lead, with a spectacular lantern from Coleen & Co. emphasizing the soaring ceiling height and a pair of Visual Comfort table lamps adding a modern touch. The drapery, chaise lounge, x-benches, and tassel trim on the bed skirt all complement the Quadrille fabric on the lumbar pillow. It’s the subtle anchor to the room’s special touches which together create a retreat that’s thoughtful, layered and somewhat unexpected.
THE AIRY OFFICE
Located off the primary, this is a space in which anyone would love to work. The pretty, leafy green sets the tone and works wonderfully with the patterns LJ expertly mixed with the Thibaut fabric on the chair, striped Roman shades, and a neutral floor. “There are so many patterns in the room, but it’s quiet to the eye, interesting, and pleasing,” LJ says. Custom Botanicals by local artist Maresca Textiles are the perfect finishing touch.
AN APPEALING DINING ROOM
Big gatherings are de rigueur in this family. At least 20 more years of memories will be made under the Gracie wallpaper panels and Iatesta Studio chandelier. Savarie chose a beautifully textured silk wallpaper from Phillip Jeffries. Silk shades with the slightest hint of green adorn the sconces.
THE LIVELY LIVING ROOM
Often full of friends and family, this elegant, light-filled room is adjacent to the dining room and Savarie expertly wove the two spaces together. The sconces with hand painted details repeat here and the custom consoles with Greek key details pull in the apricot hue.
A large-scale sisal rug is the perfect counterpoint to the refreshed upholstery and Cowan and Tout drapery. “It’s inviting, not stuffy, and perfect for hosting family and friends, which this couple loves to do,” LJ says.
THE ELEGANT BAR
“Sometimes the smallest rooms can be the most impactful,” LJ says about the luxe bar space. The stonework was in place, the goal for this space was to add layers of interest. The cabinets are lacquered in an exquisite pale blue and finished with lacquered brass hardware for an old school look. A Coleen and Company light fixture with fretwork adds a final exclamation mark of style.
THE PRETTIEST POWDER ROOM
Chocolate and blue Brunschwig & Fils wallpaper and fabric create a cozy and chic haven. The custom periwinkle blue sconces by Pared Lighting highlight the blue in the pattern. “It’s a big hit with guests,” LJ says.
