Dr. Anne Furey Schultz and Dr. Cindy Lagone bring 50 years of experience and longstanding ties to the most renowned specialists at Northwestern Medicine to deliver personalized, comprehensive, and coordinated care. “We founded Authentic Internal Medicine because we believe exceptional medical care comes down to the relationship between a doctor and a patient,” says Dr. Lagone. Authentic Internal Medicine is the only concierge, internal medicine private practice affiliated with Northwestern Medicine in Chicago’s Western Suburbs. Their innovative membership model makes for easy access and longer visits, which allows them to get to know their patients better. “Anyone who has interacted with the health care system in the last five years knows it has become increasingly depersonalized and fragmented. As experts in the prevention and management of chronic disease, we give patients—often entire families—a medical home,” says Dr. Schultz.
Giving back to the community is also a vital part of Dr. Schultz’ and Dr. Lagone’s mission. They built a teaching kitchen in their office that provides free monthly hands-on sessions for anybody in the community who wants to learn new tools to make small changes toward healthy habits for life. Authentic Teaching Kitchen (ATK) is a unique collaboration with the Culinary Institute of America and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. “Authenticity means staying true to your principles,” says Dr. Lagone. “At Authentic Internal Medicine we restore primary care to the way it was intended to be.”
