COUNTRY VS. TOWN: DIANA WAGENBACH

DIANA WAGENBACH grew up in the Northern suburbs. The youngest of three siblings, Diana looked to her hard-working parents, who immigrated from Romania, for inspiration on work ethic. She breezed through private high school in just three years, then attended Loyola University of Chicago, simultaneously running marketing and client management for a mortgage industry leader while earning her degree in Marketing.

Diana and her husband Doug loved living in River North, but when their son was born and the suburbs called, she took a fateful drive to Hinsdale. “I drove through one beautiful spring morning and fell in love.” They purchased their home in 2016 and did an expansive renovation which Diana personally designed and project managed. She fell in love with design and after their daughter was born, enrolled at the School of the Art Institute’s Interior Design program.

Her namesake company, Studio W Interiors, launched in 2021. “It’s been an amazing and wild ride, growing my company, working with amazing clients and growing a team. I’m excited to keep growing and continuing to help people design their dream homes,” she says.

Diana considers herself to be incredibly lucky to be married to her best friend, who is her biggest supporter as she builds her business. Completing the family, Henry (8) and Caroline (5), are the sweetest, smartest, funniest kids around. Henry has taken up travel soccer and Caroline is a budding ballerina. Both are playing golf, which means Diana may pick up the clubs this spring. Family time is important to her, “We love to spend time together on the weekend, getting to go to fun restaurants or having family cooking night at home.” She kindly shares a few of favorites with Hinsdale Living.

SHORE VS. CITY: JENNY MUSLIN

JENNY MUSLIN grew up in Wilmette and now lives in Highland Park with her husband, Jason, and their two children. An experienced, lifelong dancer, Muslin started to teach dance cardio and sculpt classes via Zoom during COVID. The overwhelmingly positive feedback inspired her to start Dance Sculpt. Muslin offers two kinds of classes— Dance Cardio, where attendees learn routines to different high-energy pop songs, and Sculpt for those who want to lengthen and tone without the dance element. Weekly adult sessions are available at Bright Bowls’ Highland Park studio. Muslin also teaches kids’ classes with popular themes like Barbie, Taylor Swift, and TikTok. Movement benefits mental health and mobility so introducing it at a young age helps foster a sense of empowerment, proving a feel-good workout has no age limit. Muslin steps away from the studio to share her city and shore favorites with Sheridan Road.

I feel like I pick up on the little things. I love to observe and then apply a bit of my own touch. Favorite book? That is a tough one, but within the last year my favorite book has been The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It is an easy read with a big message: No regrets. Most beloved cookbook? The one I use most often now is The Whole30 by Melissa and Dallas Hartwig. It’s full of my favorite recipes for dressings and seasonings. I also like Run Fast. Cook Fast. Eat Slow. by Shalane Flanagan and Elyse Kopecky; but intuition is one of my best friends while cooking. Best dinner party hack? I love making homemade dressings because they go with pretty much everything, from salads to meat to fish, or as a spread. When I need something fast, my go-to is a plate of a few different types of nuts and grapes. What’s in your bag right now? I don’t carry a big bag, so it’s mostly my wallet, phone, and my favorite lip balm: Mymatcha by Cocokind.
