Friends and Supporters of Gorton Center gathered at the home and gardens of Diana and David Moore on Thursday, June 27, to celebrate Gorton’s 50th Anniversary. Guests were delighted with signature cocktails and delectable food while being amazed by magician Dennis Watkins. The weather and setting could not have been more perfect for the occasion.

On July 9, acclaimed author John Berendt came to Ragdale, the renowned artist residency program, for a reception and discussion of his bestselling book, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. The iconic cover of this book features the sculpture “Bird Girl” by Sylvia Shaw created at Ragdale in her studio in 1936. ragdale.org

Citadel Theatre hosted “Casino Royale,” a festive affair on the grounds of Adrian and Nancy Smith’s David Adler estate. On June 7, the Brebner family was feted at the History Center of Lake Forest-Lake Bluff with an honor over a century in the making. The Centennial Family Awards program, attended by family and friends near and far as well as History Center members, reviewed the Brebners’ Scottish roots and many years of history in
