Building Relationships

The creation of Conlon/Christie’s International Real Estate heralded the coming together of some of the most trusted names in the field. At their North Shore office located in Winnetka, it is Managing Director, Rachael Mann, upholding the brand’s commitment to developing long-term relationships with clients, adhering to their reputation for discretion and always putting the best interests of their clients first.
“My job here is to bring in great talent, support our agents, and to grow the North Shore office,” Mann says. And under her leadership, the growing office has already more than tripled its agent count since opening its doors in 2015.
Mann had previously worked with Sean Conlon in Chicago from 2001 to 2008 with Sussex & Reilly, joining CONLON/Christie’s there in 2009. Making the move to Highland Park not long after that to raise her children, she was handpicked by Conlon to run his North Shore space two years ago.
“Opening this office was a perfect match, with my knowledge of the community and the people, and my background in real estate buying and selling as an agent, I could offer my successes and tutelage to other agents,” she shares.
It is this love of helping others and watching them succeed that is the secret to her success as a leader. Being invested in the community also contributes to the dedication she has brought to her position and to the success of their Winnetka location. “Everyone from the office is from all over the North Shore and we serve every community.”
While she admits that the CONLON/Christie’s name might be intimidating at first glance—all luxury, high-end properties that might seem out of reach—she assures potential clients that they handle all property types, from condos to lakefront estates.
This sense of inclusivity and commitment to the community extends far beyond real estate—both personally and professionally Mann and her colleagues dedicate themselves to philanthropic work. Just last month, Mann, along with Deb McMahon of J. McLaughlin in Winnetka, chaired the city’s Wine Walk event benefitting Boys Hope Girls Hope of Illinois. CONLON/Christie’s was also the presenting sponsor for this year’s walk. Bringing awareness to and supporting the North Shore community takes precedence for Mann and her talented team.
“We have a great team of people that I trust implicitly to work with any range of clients—both buyers and sellers. Keeping the client’s best interest in mind is the most important thing, from the first phone call to closing and well beyond that. Communication is key.”
“There is possibly no better place to sell real estate than the North Shore.” She adds, “It’s full of such diverse and very sought-after communities, the surroundings are amazing—there is just so much physical beauty—and it’s all so close to the city.”
Another element she notes that sets her office apart from its competitors: the great built-in support system that stems all the way from their corporate branch. CONLON/Christie’s takes the education and growth of all staff members seriously, knowing knowledgeable agents best benefit the client.
And there is always more room to grow. “The door is always open for seasoned and talented agents. We pride ourselves that our average agent closes $5 million per year, something we credit, in part, to the fact we heavily invest in our agents behind the scenes. We invest in learning, supporting them and nurturing them to build relationships.”
From agent to agent and client to client, CONLON/Christie’s focus on commitment, care, and trust is truly unparalleled.
