Highland Park native DEB LUND has long appreciated the vibrancy of Chicago’s downtown and its suburbs. A single mother, she finds immense joy in raising her two children—Jasper, 17, and Fiona, 16. Her cherished Golden Retrievers, Queenie and Bebe, complete the family. A seasoned interior designer with over three decades of experience, Lund is the founder and creative force behind Deb Lund Interiors, a boutique design studio. Renowned for her sophisticated approach and intuitive understanding of design and decor, she brings a refined aesthetic to every project. An avid collector of contemporary art since her early 20s, Lund collaborates with curators and experts, guiding her clients to build meaningful, personalized art collections. For her, integrating fine art into a home’s design is the cornerstone of creating inspiring and enduring spaces. Outside her professional pursuits, Lund channels her creativity into the culinary arts, crafting wholesome, imaginative dishes like her celebrated tofu tomato sauce. Her home is a warm gathering space for family and friends, where she hosts dinner parties marked by laughter and connection. Beloved weekend activities include park outings with her dogs, bike riding on the lakefront trail, attending the opera, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and various art exhibits, and rooting for the Bulls and Blackhawks. Lund takes a break from her art curation and fabric samples to share how she stays on-trend.
“Table For Two by Amor Towles. Towles writes with such wit, humor, and sophistication. I’ve enjoyed reading his other novels and was excited to start his newest. Also, Don’t Just Sit There! by Biet Simkin, who weaves the world of pop culture and spirituality, teaching practical applications of ancient spiritual wisdom to everyday life. It’s important for me to work on my full self—mind, body, and spirit.”
“The Free Press. I appreciate the honesty and integrity of the articles and the writers, who publish investigative and provocative commentary about the world. Also, Duolingo—I have always wanted to speak French and began taking lessons a year ago. Duolingo is a convenient way to practice between classes.”
“Death of an Artist podcast tells fascinating stories about the lives (and deaths) of American artists. They are suspenseful, informative, and expertly produced. Be My Guest with Ina Garten is another favorite. I enjoy cooking, and Ina has fantastic ideas for delicious, practical recipes. Her conversations with her featured guests are often very amusing! I also love The Row’s Spotify Playlists. I enjoy listening to various music genres including jazz, folk, indie, and classical. The Row’s carefully curated playlists offer a unique combination of great pieces.”
