Growing up above a funeral home, SHEILA L. GABLER-MILLER learned from a very young age how fragile life can be. “I worked alongside my family in the funeral business, recently authoring a book about this titled Laid to Rest,” says Gabler-Miller, who also assists husband, Mike Miller, in his Barrington-based M.J. Miller Jewelers. “Later I pursued my path as an artist, painting crystal for Villeroy & Boch—having sold the Peace glass globally. Several of my artworks are also part of the Vatican’s art collection.” It’s a talent that runs in the family. Gabler-Miller also promoted her father Matt Lamb’s artwork, opening Peace Museums of Art in America, Andorra, Argentina, England, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Pakistan, Slovakia, Spain, Russia, and the UAE, where she also holds citizenship. “After the tragedy of 9/11 my father and I were commissioned by the Pentagon to help the children who lost a parent paint through their grief,” she says, explaining that from that experience, they founded Lamb Umbrellas For Peace, which has now seen more than three million people in 19 countries paint umbrellas. “Additionally, I support my husband in his jewelry business while also being represented by Bravo Talent Management. But my biggest accomplishments are being a mother to Rose, Joe, and Matt, mother-in-law to Steve, and Grandma to Emma and Colin!” she says.
