Compassionate is just one word to describe veterinarian JOYCE ASHAMALLA.“Upon graduation, interviewed at many veterinary hospitals, but the decision to join the team associated with Hinsdale Animal Hospital was the best decision I could have made,” she says. “With our lovely demographic, I was able to flex my medical muscles in both surgery and medicine, while at the same time growing the clinic in the community.” Ashamalla received her BS in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois-Champaign Urbana, where she stayed to complete her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2007. “Hinsdale Animal Hospital has been in operation since the 1960s, and after having the privilege to grow and manage it, we were able to build a brand new gorgeous state-of-the-art facility in 2019,” she proudly adds. As Managing Partner, her business style is professional, compassionate, and educational, with clear communication. You’ll find her and all her staff “looking clean and similar in color with clearly embroidered names to unify the team.” Ashamalla’s role model is, unsurprisingly, one of the most influential women in history (more specifically, in science): Marie Curie. Upon reflecting on getting where she’s at today, she states: “As with most careers, it’s a lot of hard work and persistence with a sprinkle of meeting the right people at the right time. Being a veterinarian is rewarding because it combines my love of medicine and helping animals and the families that love them.”
