ALLYSON RUSSO: OWNER, RUSSO LAW OFFICES LLC

By Contributor

104 Allyson Russo

Allyson Russo’s interest in proactive problem solving is part of what prompted her to become an estate planning attorney. “Estate planning allows me to help individuals and families navigate important decisions with clarity and confidence,” says Russo, who holds a B.A. from Boston College, a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and an LLM from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. “I find fulfillment in creating personalized plans that bring peace of mind, knowing that my clients are prepared for the future and that their wishes will be honored. It’s rewarding to offer both practical solutions and a sense of security during what can often feel like an overwhelming process.”

With offices in Hinsdale and Hoffman Estates, her Russo Law Offices LLC specializes in estate planning and probate—a niche of the legal industry she says is so misunderstood it can lead people to delay or avoid it altogether. “Anyone with assets—or dependents—can benefit from having a clear plan. People often believe that a will alone is sufficient; in reality, effective estate planning may include trusts, powers of attorney, and health care directives,” explains Russo, who’s been practicing law for 25 years. “People also often believe estate planning is only about distributing assets after death, but it also addresses incapacity and medical decisions during one’s lifetime. Finally, many assume it’s a one-time task, but estate plans should be updated regularly to reflect life changes.”

One of the most valuable lessons she’s learned in her legal career is to approach every client with empathy; not judgment. “Legal issues often arise from deeply personal and complex family situations, and it’s the lawyer’s role to provide support and guidance—not to criticize. I understand that every family is unique and deserves respect,” she adds. “Creating a safe, nonjudgmental space allows clients to be open and honest, which is essential for effective legal representation.”
