Dr Nick Riccio aka “Dr. Nick,” who runs Hinsdale Ortho along with his wife, Dr Susan Blair, believes in being “all in” with his pursuits. All in on Hinsdale, where his family lives and his children will go to school. All in on how he runs his practice, utilizing the best products and technologies on the market, and developing the most highly trained and caring team imaginable. All in on sharing his expertise and passion with others – his patients, his team, and his colleagues.

“We work here, but we also live here, and our kids will go to school here, so we really want to be a meaningful part of this community for a long time to come. It’s very important to us,” Dr. Nick explains. “It all kind of happened at once back in 2018, when we were handpicked to take over this practice, bought a house just blocks away, had our first son, Massimo, and adopted our beloved dog, Barney, from the Hinsdale Humane Society. We were just all in!”

July 3 will mark the four-year anniversary of Riccio and Blair transitioning the practice from long-time Hinsdale orthodontist, Dr. Mike Klepacki, whose father founded the practice in 1955. Riccio and Blair renamed it Hinsdale Ortho last year to better reflect their commitment to their community.

“We’re carrying on a long tradition of being the premier place to get orthodontic care. We’re in the same building that’s been here for sixty-five years,” Dr. Nick reflects. “Our practice has been creating some of the most amazing smiles in the Western Suburbs for generations, and we are so proud to celebrate the four-year anniversary of taking on the responsibility of upholding that legacy.”

Both Drs. Nick and Blair are board-certified orthodontists, and Dr. Blair is also a board-certified pediatric dentist, a dual certification that is rare among orthodontists, and that gives her unique and invaluable expertise in treating younger ortho patients. Their skilled and artistic approach is about way more than just braces and wires; it’s about carefully designing beautiful and healthy smiles that patients can be truly proud of for a lifetime.

Drs. Nick and Blair use the Damon® brace system and Spark® aligners, both of which they believe are the most high-tech, comfortable, and aesthetic brace and aligner systems on the market. “Both Damon® braces and Spark® aligners incorporate very gentle and sophisticated treatment philosophies to help resolve very complex orthodontic problems. They allow us to do more conservative treatments that we couldn’t do with the more traditional brace and aligner systems; think less expanders, less headgears, and almost no extractions of perfectly healthy permanent teeth,” explains Dr. Nick passionately.

“I am one hundred percent committed, I’m like a freight train,” he jokes. “Once I point myself in the right direction, I build up a head of steam, and am just unstoppable!”
