AARON COMES began his career in Chicago, working for the world’s largest custom clothing manufacturer. “Over eight years, I developed a strong understanding of men’s style preferences and shopping habits,” says Comes, who launched Frederick Lynn in 2010. “Seeing a gap in the market, I launched Frederick Lynn—my parents’ middle names—as a more personal, refined menswear experience.” Equipped with a degree in marketing and textiles and a lifelong love of clothing, Comes launched the business in his garage. The first Frederick Lynn showroom opened in Chicago in 2013 and in 2021, he relocated the atelier to a historic location in downtown Hinsdale that had been home to Hinsdale Furriers for 70 years. “I was fortunate to partner with Melissa Waters, fourth-generation owner of Hinsdale Furriers, whose knowledge and history with the building made the transition easier as we fully renovated the space,” says Comes. “Today, Frederick Lynn offers timeless style, personal service, and a curated showroom experience in the heart of Hinsdale.”
WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING PART OF WHAT YOU DO?
As a custom clothier, I’m not just tailoring garments; I’m shaping how someone presents themselves to the world. When the fit, fabric, and style align with who they are (or aspire to be), the confidence shift is real. I’m giving them something they couldn’t get off the rack: not just a perfect fit, but a version of themselves they’re proud to step into.
HOW DO YOU STRIVE TO MAKE A LASTING IMPACT ON YOUR INDUSTRY OR COMMUNITY? WHAT VALUES OR PRINCIPLES GUIDE YOUR SUCCESS?
Making a positive impact on the community is at the heart of what we do. Whether it’s preserving our historic building, enhancing the safety and beauty of our walkways, participating in local events, or opening our space to host special gatherings, being involved and giving back is not just a part of our business—it’s a core value and one of the main reasons we chose to make Hinsdale our home.
