Embarking on a journey through time and luxury, The Ritz Paris emerges as an icon in the world of hospitality. Since its grand opening in 1898, it has earned illustrious nicknames like the “king of hoteliers” and “hotelier to kings.” Beyond its opulent façade lies a legacy that spans over a century, hosting royalty, billionaires, celebrities, and VIPs from around the globe.
Venturing to the outdoor terrace restaurant for a late breakfast, I found myself transported to a royal Neapolitan setting. The impeccable service and comfortable atmosphere allowed me to relish the culinary delights, appreciating The Ritz Paris’s commitment to turning dreams into reality. It was more than a hotel; it was a living legacy of timeless elegance, impeccable service, and unfolding history.
After a detailed renovation, meticulously overseen by the esteemed designer architect Thierry Despont, The Ritz Paris seamlessly marries timeless charm with contemporary enhancements. Boasting expansive suites and renovated bathrooms, the hotel continues to embody the pinnacle of luxury, preserving the essence of a bygone era while catering to the discerning needs of today’s travelers.
Under the guidance of a new executive chef, Nicolas Sale, and a redesigned Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant, L’Espadon, The Ritz Paris has solidified its position as a culinary haven. Throughout the renovation, key figures such as general manager Christian Boyens and bartending legend Colin Field remained unwavering, preserving the quintessence of The Ritz Paris.
In September 2023, the gastronomic gem Espadon reopened its doors, unveiling a redesigned space connecting seamlessly with the enchanting Grand Jardin. Under Chef Eugénie Béziat’s culinary prowess, Espadon offers a unique journey, blending African influences and Mediterranean accents for a breathtaking dining experience.
Simultaneously, the newly inaugurated Ritz Bar pays homage to the hotel’s visionary founder, César Ritz. Each evening, it transforms into a celestial haven with an eloquent ritual of sound and light. Stars and constellations grace the ceiling, while original cocktails, each dedicated to a zodiac sign, captivate visitors. Meanwhile, Bar Hemingway, steeped in history, continues to enchant under the guidance of Anne-Sophie Prestail and her team of skilled mixologists, preserving the timeless magic of this legendary establishment.

As the sun gracefully dipped below the Parisian skyline, the allure of The Ritz deepened. Within its dimly lit corridors, whispers of legendary guests—F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, and the unmistakable presence of Coco Chanel—seemed to linger in the air. The Prestige Suite, my chosen haven for the night, stood as a silent witness to the rich history that unfolded within these walls, seamlessly connecting me to a bygone era of glamour. This exquisite sanctuary featured walls adorned with timeless oil paintings and linens sourced from the finest locales worldwide. Awaiting my arrival was a thoughtful ensemble—a bottle of chilled champagne, a bowl of fresh fruit, and a golden key crafted from fine chocolate, promising a stay beyond ordinary. The bathroom, a glistening haven of marble and gold, extended an invitation for indulgence, with a luxurious bath awaiting within a colossal tub.
The next morning, opulence continued with a sumptuous breakfast in bed—scrambled eggs with caviar, fresh croissants, and steaming coffee set the tone for an enchanting day. A visit to the Ritz Club and Spa, with its painted ceiling reminiscent of a bygone era, flooded me with memories from my first visit many years ago. After a swim, I strolled through the corridors adorned with sumptuous bouquets. I marveled at the cosmopolitan glamour that had attracted celebrities for over a century.
The Ritz Paris is more than a luxurious escape; it is a captivating tale woven with the threads of history, gastronomy, and personal splendor. As I bid adieu to this timeless establishment, my heart overflowed with gratitude for an experience that surpassed the boundaries of time—a narrative of royalty and the enduring charm of Paris. In the grand tradition of The Ritz, my story seamlessly became a part of the living tapestry unfolding within its legendary walls.
