A Monthly Celebration of Seasonal Blooms

THE SUREST CURE for the late-winter blues is having a friend for lunch with a lush, kaleidoscopic arrangement on the table. Just as we become desperate for color and warmth, these fragrant blooms remind us that the sunshine seasons of spring and summer are around the bend. One of spring’s earliest flowers, hellebore, pepper the arrangement in purple while sawtoothed parrot tulips in watermelon pink and yellow reference April’s showiest blooms. Coral Charm peonies and strawberry scabiosa leave one longing for the longer days of May, and the velvety pink and white garden roses, alongside super saturated orange poppies, bring the sweet days of early summer to mind.
Floral arrangement and blue and white ginger jar cachepot available through M on the Square, 259 Market Square, Lake Forest, 847-604-4255.
