A Dynamic Trio

John Baylor, Pam Baylor, and their daughter and partner Cricket Baylor King are a tight-knit family and extraordinary business partners. It is evident in the way they finish each other’s sentences and in the obvious joy they derive from working together.
How does this affect their Winnetka-based @properties real estate business? These are three individuals who truly love real estate and living and working on the North Shore. The proof is in the more than $400,000,000 in sales over the past twenty years from grateful, repeat clients. These satisfied clients provide a steady stream of referrals, knowing their friends and family will be working with the best. The Baylor Network is entirely committed to putting their customers’ needs first and foremost, and this strategy has paid off.
Before venturing into real estate, John worked at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) as a floor trader. When things started to change at CBOT, John decided to turn his love of real estate into a profession, and it happened that he was a natural. He has never looked back.
Pam joined John officially about six years ago. “I had an interior design company,” Pam says. “I worked in design for twenty years and it was great. I had lots of North Shore clients, but I was looking for a change. And John was getting so busy, he suggested that I get my real estate license.”
Pam says that has turned out to be a perfect fit, “because I can look at houses through a designer’s eye and see all the possibilities and make suggestions. Selling houses is a lot more interesting to me. I meet so many different people from different walks of life.”
Cricket made the switch official almost five years ago. “I always had an interest in real estate,” she says. “I saw my parents enjoying their successful partnership and decided to join the ranks. I like knowing that the more work you put into your business, the more you get out of it. This is the most fulfilling job because you have to work really, really hard. But the payoff is extraordinary. You have happy clients who you helped navigate through a potentially difficult transaction. And then we’re on the other side.”
When you sell or purchase a house through The Baylor Network, you receive the expertise of seasoned professionals. “We act as a three-person team,” John says.
Cricket expands. “One of the largest advantages to working with our team is that we have the combination of expertise, experience, and thorough knowledge. My dad has been in the business a long time and has seen it all. However, every real estate transaction is different and always keeps us challenged. My mom has the advantage of having a design background. And we know how to stage rooms and make homes attractive to a wide pool of buyers. I also bring the digital help as much as I can,” she laughs.
“I’m always curious about what’s going on in the market, as is John,” Pam says. “It’s funny, but often after our dinner when most people are watching TV, which we do too, we are online looking at hot sheets to see what just went under contract.”
“We all just really enjoy the job—we’ve found a good groove.” Indeed. And that’s what makes this dynamic trio keep thriving.
