Whitley Bouma Herbert and Pim Alley are committed to cancer research. Co-chairing this year’s not-to-be-missed benefit party, Bringing Breakthroughs Home, Herbert and Alley hope to raise critical funds to support researchers at UChicago Medicine. Since its inception, the Breakthrough Board, formerly known as the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation Women’s Board, has raised over $70 million to improve cancer treatment and survivorship. This year, board members and their guests will gather virtually and in-person at cocktail parties in Chicago and Lake Forest to celebrate past and future breakthroughs in cancer research. “We wanted to create an event to meet everyone’s comfort level, be it at-home or in-person, in t-shirts or ball-skirts,” adds Alley.
