JULIE SUTTON and her team at Compass are the real estate experts when it comes to the Western Suburbs. Sutton comes from an extensive background in marketing and advertising giving her a leg up when it comes to preparing, marketing, and closing a listing. She’s also known as “The Staging Guru,” with her large inventory of furniture, rugs, lighting, art, and accessories to stage a home. Additionally, she has experience building custom homes and consulting with clients on complete renovations, new construction, and even multi-unit developments.

What has been the most significant barrier in your career and how have you persevered? The most significant barrier in my career has been balancing work and family. It seems to always be a challenge, especially in this business that doesn’t have a typical work week. However, with the support of my husband and partner, Will, we’ve been able to grow our business while still being very involved with our three kids and all of their activities.

Who is your role model and why? My mother is my role model. For 30 years, she juggled work and family and did it all with grace and without ever losing her poise or patience.

What was the turning point in your career? It was when I decided to expand my team and join Compass. I operate best when surrounded by the brightest, most loyal, hardworking, high-energy people. I feel so honored and blessed to be working alongside this talented group of successful teammates.

How can this generation of leaders support the next generation of leaders? There is so much to be gained when young energy is combined with years of experience. Collaborate! We can all learn a lot from each other.
