DR. CARRIE THANGAMANI is the queen of smiles. As the Founder of CHT Orthodontics, she’s been making smiles brighter in Hinsdale and the Chicago area for more than 16 years. Her team of experts is credited with superior customer service, combining experience with the latest technology, all while ensuring to provide care and community along the way.

What does the idea of power mean to you? Power means exuding leadership with charisma and having the influence to use that for the greater good of humanity. Having power, when used effectively, empowers others to do the same. A Power Woman knows what she wants and goes for it no matter the length of time it takes to get there—all while having fun and enjoying the ride!

How should women support other women? Women should support women in the same way they support anyone else: with a keen eye, lack of judgment, and enthusiasm.

What are you most proud of doing? I’m most proud of the team I’ve built. They are an exceptional group who have continued to cultivate joy, pride, and empathy in their everyday interactions with our patients. Those are amazing skills to be had.

What is the most important characteristic of an effective leader? I think the most important characteristic of a leader is to be a servant leader; one who leads by example and sets the stage of expectation by doing and not only by simply telling.

How can this generation of leaders support the next generation of leaders? We, as leaders, can help the next generation by reminding them that life and success are not meant to be easy. Anything in life worth doing takes time, perseverance, and determination. If any of these are missing, it’s a much longer road to success than is necessary.
