Bernie’s Book Bank

To celebrate their new warehouse in Lake Forest—a larger facility that allows the organization to process more books for at-risk youth in Chicagoland—Brian Floriani and supporters of Bernie’s Book Bank rocked the (ware)house during a benefit on June 17. The evening featured live music by Derrick Stout and Loose Connection, and hosted more than 260 guests. Food was supplied from Big Bowl, and was served by volunteer high school and college students dressed as famous children’s book characters. Beer, wine, and “Bernie-tinis” flowed for most of the night. Committee members for the evening’s event were Lindsey Borjas, Catherine Driscoll, Sandy Simon, Dianne Johnson, Heather Hester, Stephanie Pither, and Heather Keigher. More than $20,000 was raised, which allowed the organization to process and distribute more than 120,000 books to needy children, creating readers for a lifetime.
