Lake Forest Symphony Guild
On the eve of the most-watched wedding of the century, supporters of the Lake Forest Symphony Guild tipped their hats to William and Katherine at the Mad Hatter Luncheon, donning elaborate hats and fascinators (and even a few tiaras!).
Costumed Beefeaters welcomed guests to the aptly named Windsor Hall of the Deer Path Inn, where guests took in a lively silent auction. After lunch, guests enjoyed a fashion show, coordinated and narrated by Ellen Stirling of The Lake Forest Shop, which showcased spring and summer styles, as well as wedding attire from Gigi’s Closette. In honor of the Royal Wedding, the popular annual hat contest featured different categories this year. Most Princess-Like, won by Laura Carreira; Most Regal, won by Celeste Lockhart; and Most Coordinated, won by Janet Tamer. Royal Wedding aside, there was much to celebrate: The Guild was recently designated as the 2011 Guild of the Year by the Illinois Council of Orchestras. More than $8,000 was raised to support the Lake Forest Symphony’s 2011–2012 season.
