For the first time ever, people can actually experience the exciting lifestyle of a secret agent. The Double O Secret Agent Experience is more than the vacation of a lifetime; it’s a chance to save the world while brandishing a “license to kill.”
You arrive at your hotel in the rolling green hills of the English countryside. Before you can even lay out your tuxedo for the event that evening, you receive a message. Your unit is meeting in the operations room. You have a mission this weekend. Welcome to your vacation, Mr. Bond.
The Double O Secret Agent Experience, created by Life Survival in the UK, now offers world travelers the vacation opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to take a vacation from themselves and become a secret agent. For an all-inclusive fee, every prospective agent will receive training in electronic surveillance, evasive driving, close quarter combat, conduct after capture, and, of course, weapons training. The instructors for your adrenaline-fueled weekend are all former UK Special Forces personnel, and the training you receive and the equipment that you use is all very effective and—with the exception of the guns which fire blanks—very real.
“The evasive driving that we concentrate on is the ‘J-turn.’ It’s basically a means of getting out of a bad place as quickly as possible,” says the instructor in charge of operations, whose identity we’ve been asked not to divulge. “The car is put into reverse and driven quickly backwards, then spun round, put into first during the spin, and it speeds off in the other direction. We also do some car evacuation under small arms fire.”
The action-packed weekend culminates in the execution of a top-priority mission, with the safety of England depending on your success. All of the techniques you learn are put to the test as you tail suspects, discretely bug rooms, uncover threats, rescue hostages, and confront your target. If you succeed, you and your fellow agents attend a champagne reception and a fantastic celebratory dinner in a luxurious, Bond-worthy dining room.
“It’s a spectacularly unique event, the closest you’ll get to being James Bond,” says Tina Harrison, Director of Life Survival. “And it was vitally important that the hotels all live up to a high standard.”
The program is currently available at two outstanding, palace-like hotels in beautiful locations in rural England: Rushton Hall Hotel in Northamptonshire and Shrigley Hall Hotel in Cheshire. Both provide the kind of luxury amenities that all discerning secret agents value. From swimming to tennis to golf, if hand-to-hand combat and gadget instruction hasn’t worn you out, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Both country estate hotels also include sumptuous spa facilities and champagne brunches for any accompanying Money Pennys to relax and kill time, providing their respective Bonds a little relaxing time to kill. A selection of traditional English rooms, from Four Poster to State bedrooms, are available as options for your unbelievable getaway.
After a few extremely successful trial runs, the Double O Secret Agent Experience is finally available to everyone as of February. “The Double O event gave me a fascinating insight into a shadowy world and added a much-enjoyed adrenaline rush,” says M. Culverhouse, one of the early participants in the experience. With Father’s Day on the way, what better gift to give the man who has everything except an unforgettable life experience dreamt of since childhood? Life Survival has also seen a tremendous amount of interest from corporations all around the world who are eager to use the service as an out-of-this-world team-building exercise.
“Of course, it wouldn’t be a true James Bond event if you didn’t take somebody out,” adds Tina. “Because that’s what boys want to do. They want to go out and use the guns. And they do.”
