Window treatments have always had the ability to elevate even the most lowly room into something truly special. Not only can they make or break a room, they can convey a certain design sense and give homeowners an opportunity to tell the world who they are, or who they want to be. For the past seven decades, Drapery Connection has been helping homeowners do just that.
With new trends in window fashions, new changing consumer tastes, and new window products emerging every year, Drapery Connection’s unique ability to adapt and lead the Chicago area with fresh ideas has made them an international leader in this specialized field.
“We’re serious about window coverings. It is our only focus,” says Carl Movrich, CEO of Drapery Connection. And with an extensive website, eight designers, and 20 employees, plus two established showrooms in Highland Park and Hinsdale displaying a vast array of window treatments, it shows.
Serving the entire Chicago area, Southern Wisconsin, Northern Indiana, and Michigan, this fourth-generation family business designs custom window treatments for homeowners, interior designers, and commercial space owners such as hotels. All are drawn to the company’s comprehensive showroom that allows for one-stop shopping.
Drapery Connection’s designers are professionally trained and are some of the most educated in the industry. While their main focus is windows, Drapery Connection’s designers are more than willing to assist with all design aspects of a room, which makes the in-home consultation all the more valuable.
Along with their passion for design and style, Drapery Connection continues to be at the forefront of innovation. Being experts at motorization and automation, Drapery Connection assists customers in conserving energy by blocking out sunlight and creating more privacy. “All of this can be done with a touch of a button, from most smartphones and tablets, making it possible for you to draw your shades while you are away from your home,” says John Danaher, President and certified motorization expert.
Some people immediately assume that the word customization is followed with a large price tag. “Not the case,” says Jessica Harling of the Highland Park showroom. “We can take one of the more expensive designs and make it fit any budget.” All is possible when you get the one-on-one attention from their experienced staff. From the designer to the installer, all are in-house employees with the same ideals Bruno Movrich had when he founded the company 72 years ago.
“We’re like one big family,” says Mimi Harling, owner and granddaughter of the company’s founder. “We are a team. We’re all in it together,” agrees Susette Kubiak, owner and member of the American Society of Interior Designers. We’ve had employees who have been with us for 20 years.” This rare and admirable aspect of the company is only a minor part of their multi-decade achievements. “Our success is all about our people and their professionalism,” Carl Movrich says. “We keep clients coming back by making them number one.”
