Nutcracker Family Dinner: One Enchanted Evening
Around the holidays, there are certain traditions unique to each family. But there is one Christmas mainstay many families on the North Shore revisit year after year and for hopeful generations to come. Celebrating its 14-year run, the Women’s Board of The Joffrey Ballet will present Nutcracker Family Dinner on December 10, at The Palmer House Hotel in Chicago, reliving the holiday classic.
Co-chaired by Cindy Burns and Sonya Y. Jackson, both of Chicago, the event promises to be an enchanted evening full of memories. “This night is one of unforgettable holiday festivities,” says Burns. “It is entertainment for the whole family.” The delightful evening begins at 4 p.m. on the fourth floor of The Palmer House in the State Ballroom, with cocktails, punch, lively entertainment, and special “Creation Stations” the entire family can enjoy. At 5:15 p.m., guests will be seated in the Grand Ballroom for a traditional meal served family-style and treated to a “mini” performance of The Nutcracker.
Tickets for the event will cover the performance entrance for either the matinee or evening show of The Nutcracker at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. Children are $150, with two different levels of adult tickets ranging from $200 to $400. Each guest will enjoy transportation via trolley from The Palmer House to the theatre, and each child will receive a holiday goodie bag.
New this year are three levels of sponsorship and table opportunities. The tables range from $3,750 to $15,000 and include exciting benefits before, during, and after the December 10 event. Perks like a 20-person dance class party at Joffrey Tower, the high-rise real estate development in the Loop that serves as the permanent home of The Joffrey Ballet, are included. Performance tickets will also be available to sponsors for future 2011/2012 “New Generation” productions. But one of the most unique aspects of this year’s sponsorship bonuses is a dream come true for even the tiniest future prima ballerina. “Sponsors will also have the opportunity for an end-of-performance flower presentation to a Joffrey dancer on stage and a post-performance backstage tour with photo opportunities,” explains Jackson. Talk about creating memories for a lifetime.
