For more than two decades, the name Pascal pour Elle has become known throughout the North Shore as a place for innovative hair styling and lavish beauty treatments. With the recent introduction of its new Glencoe-based concept, MedSkin Group, under the medical direction of Dr. David Barnes, women and men of the North Shore can now revitalize and refine their overall look with the name they have trusted for years.
Between the medical direction of Dr. Barnes and his highly trained staff, the refined techniques used at MedSkin Group have created a comfortable atmosphere that offers a full spectrum of services aimed at promoting a healthy face and body image for both men and women. “This is something you can do to immediately change people’s lives and give them what they want,” says Dr. Barnes. “That is, if you do a good job. And we do.”
It is this job that, as a kid, Dr. Barnes used to dream about. His mother, a nurse, and his father, a probation officer, gave him the background in service and a penchant for wanting to make the world a better place. Following a brief postgraduate period in finance, Dr. Barnes realized he needed to pursue his first love—directly changing people’s lives for the better. He went to medical school, where he regained an enthusiasm for medicine, and fast-forward past medical school, residency, and a successful family medicine practice, to a partnership at MedSkin Group, located atop Pascal pour Elle in Glencoe. This luxurious hybrid is one part salon, one part spa, and, now, one part medicine.
MedSkin Group combines the latest technological advancements with a deep understanding and appreciation for helping people achieve their goals of healthy beauty enrichment. It is this focus that Dr. Barnes hopes will help please existing clients of Pascal pour Elle as well as residents throughout the North Shore and beyond.
“People often want to change something about their physical appearance, but don’t know exactly what they want or how to get there,” explains Dr. Barnes. “They may be thinking, for example, that Botox is going to do something that it won’t. My first obligation is to learn about their desires, and then discuss with them what processes might give them the results they want.”
For Dr. Barnes, the most important role of a health care professional is to guide individuals on their path to personal enhancement by selecting a treatment that best suits their needs. He explains that, like any other facet of Pascal pour Elle salons, MedSkin Group settles for nothing less than the complete satisfaction of clients and the best possible results for each and every patient.
”Not everybody wants [his or her] lips to look like Angelina Jolie’s. Not everybody sees [wrinkles] and says, ‘I hate these lines,’” says Dr. Barnes. “Whatever the case may be, it is my responsibility to get into a patient’s head, figure out what he or she is really trying to achieve, and, if possible, help them get there.”
