The Next Phase in Elegance
Harry Winston. There isn’t a more recognizable name in the diamond industry. Marilyn Monroe saw to that in 1953 while singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” when she said, “Talk to me, Harry Winston, tell me all about it.” His donation of the Hope Diamond to the Smithsonian Institution, where it draws more annual visitors than the Mona Lisa, further cemented this legacy. And Winston was the first jeweler to put his diamonds on the red carpet, dressing Best Actress winner Jennifer Jones at the 1943 Academy Awards.
The Harry Winston brand is perhaps best known for concealing their jewelry settings underneath clusters of stunning diamonds, each varying in shape and cut; the stones set at varying angles are visually reminiscent of flowers and leaves in the natural world. They pioneered this diamond-driven design, where the craftsmanship is all but invisible so it appears as though the diamonds are floating against a woman’s skin. With their two newest collections, the brand best known for lighting up red carpets dedicates themselves to elegance at any hour.
Harry Winston’s newest jewelry collection, Lily Cluster, pays homage to the classic Winston Cluster with a multitude of delicate round and marquise cut stones outlining a graphic representation of the cluster design. The result creates a contemporary look without losing that imperative Harry Winston elegance and quality, and adds a touch of modernity and versatility with necklaces, earrings, pendants, rings, and bracelets available in both yellow gold and platinum. “Because the design of Lily Cluster is so fresh and open, both yellow gold and platinum work perfectly,” says Harry Winston Art Director and Vice President of Design Sandrine de Laage. “This makes it ideal for the modern consumer who understands the rarity and exclusivity of Harry Winston, but also appreciates choice and variety when they are purchasing fine jewelry.” The Lily Cluster collection marks a first for Harry Winston with their premiere diamond barrette, a welcome indication that this collection is compatible with everyday life as well as evenings out.
Also released mere months ago are the latest additions to the impressive collection of Harry Winston Timepieces, the Harry Winston Midnight collection, which brings a new interpretation to Harry Winston’s ideals of elegance and refinement. Traditionally, Harry Winston watches for men have exhilaratingly complex faces with many dials and visible workings, and are diamond-covered for women. The new collection reinforces the elegance of simplicity with an ultra-pure watch face for both men and women. However, the men’s Harry Winston Midnight Big Date watch keeps the brand tradition of pushing the dial off-center and adds a single diamond above the date. The Harry Winston Midnight lady models come in rose and white gold, with 12 brilliant-cut diamonds on the dial, three each at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions, and the case can come unadorned or delicately set with 103 more dazzling stones for the 39mm or 88 stones for the 32mm.
The Lily Cluster and Harry Winston Midnight collections are exciting additions to the brand already renowned for its commanding style and visibility. The very best thing about the new offerings is that you don’t have to wait until evening to hear the words, “Is that a Harry Winston?”
